The ATE Training Instructor plays a pivotal role in assessing and addressing training needs across various markets. This position ensures that ATE team members are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties effectively and deliver outstanding customer service. Responsibilities include developing and implementing training plans to keep team members up to date with the latest technology while also providing training on existing resources.
As a subject matter expert, the instructor will collaborate with the training team to create materials such as new hire training modules, job aids, interactive or microlearning videos, and Learning Management System (LMS) content.
JOB PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Mechanical ATE Training Instructor is to develop and support highly skilled, field-ready technicians by delivering comprehensive training, onboarding, and ongoing coaching across ATE Mechanical Services. This position ensures all work is performed in alignment with OEM standards and company policies by reinforcing proper documentation, compliance, and best practices in diagnostics, repairs, and customer service. Additionally, the role drives technician readiness and performance through assessments, reporting, and continuous support, while maintaining an organized, professional training environment and facilitating a positive, structured learning experience.
Deliver online and in-person training on ATE Mechanical Services, including advanced diagnostics, full-spectrum mechanical systems, and EV/Hybrid high-voltage procedures (when certified).
Lead new hire onboarding and orientation, providing comprehensive pre-field training and ongoing support to drive confidence, productivity, and efficiency.
Ensure all services (calibrations, programming, and mechanical repairs) are properly documented, OEM-compliant, and approved in line with company policies.
Administer assessments, generate performance reports, and coach both technicians and leadership on customer service, communication, and billing best practices.
Maintain detailed records of all training activities within the LMS.
Organize team-building events and provide general support for technicians during their travel to Farmers Branch and/or other locations.
Ensure a clean and organized working environment, reflecting the standards and professionalism of the ATE Training Facility.
Educate on procedures for obtaining technical support.
Perform other duties as assigned.
5+ years of automotive mechanical experience required.
2+ years of training experience
Experience performing suspension, brake, HVAC, dash removal, air bag installation, and post collision mechanical inspections.
Ability to diagnose and repair SRS systems and perform safety related procedures per OEM standards.
Proficient with electrical diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, power probes, and resistors.
EV and Hybrid high voltage certification preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols related to Mechanical repairs.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to adapt training approaches to different audiences and learning styles
Proven training and instructional design skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively
Demonstrated ability to maintain organization and focus while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Must possess the ability to perform all services provided by ATE to effectively facilitate training and support.
25% of overnight travel may be required, including air travel.
Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs., stand for extended periods in automotive shop environments and classroom settings.
